David Wright
David was first taught cornet by his Father, a local Salvation Army bandmaster. At the age of nineteen he was taught trumpet by Clarence Adoo and passed his audition with the Coldstream Guards Band. After basic training he attended the pupil’s course at the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall. During his time there he studied trumpet under Paul Archibald. At the end of his course he was awarded the memorial parchment and medal for Best Brass player on the course, the Bosendorfer prize for the best pianist, the Cousin’s prize for the best written examinations, and  the Worshipful Company of Musician’s silver medal for the best overall pupil of the year. He joined the Band of Her Majesties Coldstream Guards in July 1994 and rose to the position of Principal trumpet in 2002 as well as gaining his L.T.C.L. in trumpet performance. Since joining the band he has toured to places such as U.S.A., Japan, South Korea, Australia, Germany, France and Switzerland as well as travelling widely throughout the U.K. Dave is married to Stef and has a daughter, Ella.
