We are proud to present an evening of acoustic music from two talented and expressive singer songwriters - Boo Hewerdine and Andy Thornton.

Boo’s career started in the mid eighties with his band, The Bible.  His first solo albums, Ignorance and Baptist Hospital were released in the 1990s, made with Nick Drake’s producer, John Wood.  Boo also writes songs for other artists, including singer Eddi Reader.  In 2004, Boo was asked to re-record his song ‘Bell, Book and Candle’ for an award winning death scene in the soap, Emmerdale.

Boo writes songs that are meaningful, from the heart.  ‘With songs, the subject matter is not important,’ he says, ‘It’s the feeling.  Sometimes people cry at my gigs…maybe my music touches them.  They know what I’m talking about.  I try and keep my songs simple.’

The writer Nick Hornby says of Boo’s songs, ‘If I could write books which sounded like this…I’d be very fulfilled.’

Supporting Boo at the gig is another man who writes from the heart, and lays his soul bare through his writing, whether the subject is unrequited love, ‘She won’t talk to me,’ the death of his wife from cancer, ‘Sunflower Girl’, or the beginnings of a new relationship, ‘Under my skin,’ – everyone will identify with the rawness and honesty of Andy’s writing.  He says that ‘Love, struggle, corruption, hope, and the realm of God’ are the inspiration for his song writing.

In 1990, Andy co-founded the Late, Late Service, an experimental contemporary worship arts collective based round dance beats and multimedia environments. He recorded the first ever Christian Service for Radio 1 (and the second), also on Channel 4 & Channel 5 at Christmas. He has released several albums and is a regular and popular performer at the Christian Arts Festival, Greenbelt.

Andy and Boo are appearing together for an unmissable evening of acoustic music, both performing songs that will touch the soul.
